I'm more than willing to pay for something I like; having a chance to peruse it on the small screen before purchasing it off the press would almost be like watching the movie then buying the DVD and soundtrack (much like I plan to do for Sunshine).
I've heard that name before. Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom? Isn't that the first novel to be released under the Creative Commons? I could be wrong about that . . .
I read a blog entry linked from Neil Gaiman's journal recently about two authors who decided to chart their sales for one month. One author offered his book as a free download; the other did not. Naturally the author who offered a free ebook sold far more copies. I figure it's worth looking into.
What's your opinion on the matter, Mr. Smith?
