I've never been much for audio books, plus it seems like an awful lot of hassle for you.

I've never really seen the use of audio books except for blind people and those who are too lazy to read a book themselves...

Voted no. It just seems like too much hassle and not worth your time.

all my two cents :)

Audiobooks are invaluable to a busy person who has to multitask due to not having the actual time to sit down and read exclusively. My mother attends university classes and has a job. Between all of these things, her only opportunity to experience literature right now is in her car when she is driving, and sometimes a little at night.

I was skeptical of audiobooks before, but I was very satisfied when I tried one. A well-executed audio reading of a book can be just as fulfilling as reading it with the eyes. Sure, it isn't exactly the same, but if I were to choose between not reading a book and hearing the audio version, I would choose to hear it rather than ignore the story entirely.

Also remember, audiobook naysayers, that some people can more easily comprehend and remember spoken word than they can take in traditional visual writing. I'm one of these people.

As for the work it would require for you, alienhead, just remember that it will be a very time consuming and sometimes even frustrating undertaking. I'm sure that once you've spent all the effort, you might see the possible price ranges in a whole new light.

But it's all your choice. I encourage you to do an audiobook if you have the patience and time. It will probably expand your audience a little, too.

It's not really a hassle, but more of a labor of love. Of course, I'm not really looking forward to investing my time if no one's going to buy the damn thing. Hence the poll. ;)

I usually listen to an audio book from time to time while I'm at work. If the reader is good, they can be really enjoyable.

I'm not sure if I'm a good reader, though. I may upload a sample clip in a few days and gather some opinions. What do you think?

That's a good point. I just don't know, though--I mean, would you be more apt to drop $13 plus shipping for a book, or $45 plus shipping for a set of CDs? I don't mind doing the recording--it will just take some time--but I don't see a point in doing it if no one is willing to pay for it.

Even if the majority of voters here all say "no", I may do it anyway without any real deadline. The printed version would already be available, but the audio would be there for anyone who really wanted to hear it.

I don't know. We'll see. Thanks for your input. :)

Is hearing Todd read worth $45 plus shipping?

I think that would be great. I do admit that if the reader is good then they are enjoyable. The audio clips would def. give you some feedback. (tutor mode taking over) Definately focus on expression and such and tone while reading. (I tutor kids on reading practically everyday so that takes over sometime lol)
