I prefer paperbacks because they are generally smaller and more portable; they fit more comfortably into pockets. also, they are more comfortable to read because they conform to your hands, whereas hardback books do not.

Ah lahk them thar paypahbakss, simply because they are less cumbersome. And because they are cheaper, and it's not about the longevity of the book but more so about the longevity of the effect it has on you.

Hardcover books are clunky, and I feel like I destroy the spine much faster on hardcover books from laying them flat on a table or table-like surface to read instead of holding them up and as open. Also, paperbacks aren't all that cheap anymore but they're still less expensive than hardcovers. If the book is rediculously long, I might get it hardcover because paperbacks don't seem to bind right if the spine is more than an inch or two thick, but even then I might get it in paperback.

For the mostpart, hardback. For one, hardback last longer when you carry them around a highschool, which I currently do alot. Second, I think hardbound books just look better and if they're bound right they stay open without having to hold them open. However, at times there's nothing better than a battered, yellowing, paperback pulp from the sixties or seventies.

Great king in my own mind...

Yes, hardcover look nicer, stand up in the bookshelf better and last longer - especially since someone I know likes to break the spine!!!!

Best sales pitch I've received in spam:

"If you are beautiful, your makeup never rubs off, even while scuba-diving or fighting aliens."

I make paperbacks all bendy on the cover and this is not good.

If toast always lands butter-side down, and cats always land on their feet, what would happen if you strap toast on the back of a cat and drop it?. :devilish:

I like looking after books. I hate lending paperbacks to people who lay open books face down (killing the spine), or who bend back the front page, or turn the top of a page over to keep their place. I like books and the way they look, and I dislike tatty books appearing on my shelves, becaue they look as though I haven't cared for them. But then, I like to keep books.
So I really like hardbacks, because of the look and feel. They don't work too well asa book to read on the train though, due to their size, and they are usually too expensive, so I don't own very many.
